Kiss Me Daddy

The dark haired beauty never ceases to amaze me. She is smart, inquisitive, beautiful and well aware that she has a special relationship with me. That girl is my daughter through and through. She is everything I could ever ask for and payback all rolled up in one.

For a long time she liked to try and tease me about having a boyfriend. All last year she would tell me about her little friend and then giggle when I would tell her that I was going to punch him in the nose. She doesn't know that his mother didn't find it so funny, but I don't care.

I understand boys. I am one. We use logic and reason. We say what we mean and we act upon it. Sometimes we are stupid, but it is far easier to deal with boys than girls. I already see the crap coming. Just listen to her talk about playing with the girls and you can see a rocky road. Damn, how can the mean girls be around already.

The boys don't have the same sort of drama as the girls. Sometimes I get to help serve lunch at school and I smile as I watch the kids play. At five the boys play with the girls almost as frequently as they play with other boys. Those poor kids haven't any clue that their playmates are studying their every move so that they can exploit their weaknesses. I want to tell them to run, poor bastards will wind up like the rest of us. ;)

Anyhoo, the dark haired beauty has recently begun a new game. She tells me that she doesn't want to get married because she thinks that kissing is disgusting. It started after she saw The Princess and The Frog. She came home and told me that she can't get married.

When I inquired why she told me that she can't do it because you have to kiss a boy on the lips. I asked her if she was sure and she told me that it is the "rules" and that if you don't then Barack Obama will fire you. I didn't ask her how she came up with the last part. But I did gasp a bit when she told me that figured that she can still have kids without a husband. She did qualify that she is not really sure how, but she expects that she can.

We'll deal with that one later. In the interim this kissing thing isn't totally over. No, she has decided that she wants to kiss me. She surprised me the first time. She sat on my lap and pretended to spray my lips. I didn't know what she was doing and just assumed that I was being given another dark haired beauty makeover.

The next thing I knew she grabbed my face, smiled and kissed me on the lips. I must have given her a look because she gave me a devilish smile and hugged me. It is innocent, but it really did throw me for a loop. I asked her why she did it and she told me that my face is too scratchy.

When she went to bed I gave her a hug and kissed her cheek and she squealed. I asked her why and she said that next time I need to kiss her lips because my face is still too scratchy. I could have sworn that I saw that devilish smile reappear.

Oy, it is a good thing that I love this girl.

I didn't think it had been as many months away from here as it has clearly been. I was certain I had updated this place in December and ...
