The Last Lecture- Remarks of a Dying Man

I think that I might have covered Randy Pausch before, but I didn't see it in the archives. Anyway, I thought that this was worth showing again.

If you're not familiar with the story Randy Pausch is a college professor who is dying from pancreatic cancer. He is 47 years old, married and has three small children. The video below is of his final lecture.

He is still fighting the battle, but as his home page says "Pancreatic cancer is the most deadly of cancers, with only a 4% 5-year survival rate."

I enjoyed his lecture. I hope you will too.

Whoa - that was great. I watched the whole thing, and I'm sending it to my children to see, too. Thanks for posting it, Jack.

I live about 5 minutes away from CMU's campus! I wish I could have gone.

I've watched the lecture at least three times.

I've been trying to figure out how to put the video in my blog for over three weeks!

I am feeling technologically impaired!

Rivka with a capital a, the least technically difficult is to push the "copy to embed" button that appears when the lecture ends (which copies the code you need into the computer's memory), and then paste it into the edit html tab of your blogger entry form. Then, when you hit "preview", you'll see it. If you want you can go to Youtube at http://www.youtube.com/v/ji5_MqicxSo& and copy the embedding code there, too.

Glad to hear he's still alive. I really admire the guy. I mean, I know he doesn't have much choice but to be brave, but he's really made something of his last days. A great legacy for his children....

How inspiring Randy Pausch is! If you liked "The Last Lecture", another fantastic memoir I just read and highly recommend is "My Stroke of Insight" by Dr. Jill Bolte Taylor. Her TEDTalk video (ted.com) has been seen as many times as The Last Lecture I think, and Oprah did 4 shows on her book, so there are a lot of similarities. In My Stroke of Insight, there's a happy ending though. It's an incredible story! I hear they're making it into a movie.

I'll have to take a look.

Not Quite Abandoned

I didn't think it had been as many months away from here as it has clearly been. I was certain I had updated this place in December and ...
