Name Five Movies That You Can't Stand

Can you name five movies that you seriously dislike? One more question. When you go see a movie are you the kind of person who walks out if you don't like it or do you insist on staying.

More often than not I stay. It is a combination of this naive hope that it will get better and my irritation with having paid. In LA a bargain matinee will run somewhere between eight and ten bucks a person. Throw in snacks, parking and dinner and you could easily drop sixty or seventy bucks and you haven't done all that much.

Just to get things rolling here are a couple of movies that I didn't like:

Like Water For Chocolate

As Good As it Gets

How about you?

Um, anything on SciFi on Saturday nights? Like Grendel.

Rocky 2 or 3, I forget which.
Every Which Way But Loose.
Steel Magnolias.
Star Wars.
All horror movies.

The only rental I ever stopped and did not finish on purpose: In the Bedroom.

One I probably should have: Eyes Wide Shut. Unfortunately I sat thru the whole miserable thing.

Oddly, I can't really think of more than those two.

Raising Arizona
Mannequin (should be at the top of EVEYRONE's list)
Grease 2
Hmmm... I blanking, but i'm sure there's more.

Ohmigod! I hated those 2 movies, too! We have so much in common. I also hated: "Chasing Amy," "Million Dollar Baby," "40-Year-Old Virgin."
I tend to stay. Unfortunately.
I saw the comment by Lynnster. I loved the "In the Bedroom." Funny how different people's tastes are.

Yeesh! I can't believe all these movies people are listing as bad movies...

To answer your question, no, I'm not the type to walk out of a movie in the middle of a theater.

Movies I can't stand:

The Patriot
Nothing But Trouble
Anything with Pauly Shore
Leonard Part 6

The Incredible Hulk.
Horror movies in general...

I try to forget the rest.

Don't forget the cost of babysitting!

Predator 2 and Sniper were the worst movies I've ever seen.
Ugh.

1. Seven (Se7en)
2. Savior (with Dennis Quaid)
3. Blade Runner
4. Braveheart
5. Syriana

Note that all of them contain graphic violence and/or torture or strongly imply graphic violence/torture. And for a writer with a well-honed imagination, this spells trouble. All of them gave me nightmares. Seven and Savior were IMO the worst offenders in the violence (or implied violence) category.

Seven was the only one I saw in the theatre, and I did walk out. In fact, while trying to keep the contents of my stomach in my stomach, I told the manager just what I thought and asked for a refund. He gladly gave it.

Seven gave me nightmares for a LONG time.
Good thing you didn't stay until the end!!

1. History of Violence
2. What Lies Beneath
3. Toys
4. The Piano Teacher
5. Mousehunt

As much as I would like to, I have never been able to just walk out of a bad movie. For some reason, I just can't look away.

The 2nd Legally Blonde was awful, which was so disappointing because the first one was good. I hated The Notebook, Delovely, The Weather Man and I'm sure plenty more, but I can't think of them because I have tried to put them out of my mind. I have walked out of theaters, but probably not often enough.

I read your post and thought: "Wow! Another person who didn't like As Good as it Gets." I thought I was the only one. Now I know there are at least three of us. Boy I hated that movie. And I did walk out.

I also hated Chasing Amy. I didn't walk out, but the film tore or something and we didn't see the ending. I didn't care.

Hated Steel Magnolias. Could not walk out though -- was with a group of sobbing women. I don't know why I didn't sob. Even now, it makes me wonder if I'm a real woman.

Oops I went over my five only limit. Guess you know who you shouldn't stand behind in the grocery line.

Kingdom of Heaven ( so dumb)

Brokeback Mountain (boooooooring)

Dances With Wolves (incredibly boring and seemingly endless)

Star Wars ( and the point was?!)

Enemy at the Gates (HATED the ending; which I thought was totally unrealistic and ruined the whole movie)

Quills (dumb and horrible)

I don't walk out of the movies, though. If the money's paid, gotta sit till the end. Besides, maybe I'll make some interesting observations. Since I usually blog about the movies I watch, it makes sense for me to watch the whole thing, no matter how much I dislike it.

I've never actually walked out of a movie, but count me in as another hater of "As Good As It Gets"- it was awful!

It really IS funny how people have such different tastes. I loved Brokeback Mountain, Dances with Wolves, Steel Magnolias, The Piano.

OOO! The third Matrix. :::shudder::: The entire theater started yelling at the screen, begging the girl to just shut up and die already. That's bad.

Brooke,

I like SciFi but haven't seen Grendel.

Paula,

I like all of the Rocky movies, some better than others.

Every Which Way But Loose is a classic, as is Any Which Way You can. Right turn Clyde.

And Star Wars, my oh my.

Lynnster,

Haven't seen either so I cannot comment.

Babka,

Mannequin- Andrew McCarthy at his finest.

Rhea,

Liked Chasing Amy, loved Million Dollar Baby.

LT,

I am ambivalent about those flicks.

Ezzie,

That was horrible.

Predator 2 was pretty weak.

Sheyna,

Liked Seven and Braveheart, although Mel Gibson has wrecked his movies for me now Blade Runner was pretty good too.

JT,

I really liked the soundtrack for Toys, or should I say one song.

Shoshana,

The Weatherman was quite disappointing.

Miriam,

As Good As It Gets never got good.

Sweet,

Holy Grail is a classic. Ai yi yi

Irina,

Star Wars- another classic- Good versus evil, The Force, Jedi Knights.

I first saw it at a drive-in in Chatsworth. It was 1977. I was among the first kids in school to see it. Good memories.

Well I guess what we really see is that this is indicative of how diverse taste can be.

The Horse Whisperer
Fried Green Tomatoes
Jerry Maguire
Empire of the Sun
Good Will Hunting

These movies are either sappy, revoltingly PC, blatant star vehicles, chock full of annoying catch phrases, feature really bad child acting, or are egomaniacal/self-written/self-produced/vanity projects.

It's funny how some of the movies other people have listed are my favorites- Raising Arizona? Love, love, love it! Empire of the Sun- beautifully done.

The only movie I've ever walked out on was Heaven's Gate (I'm showing my age...). Other movies that had a high barfmeter rating include anything with Olsen twins, Meet the Fockers and The Wedding Planner. I also couldn't stand Steel Magnolias. Oh, and a bunch of cheesy Israeli movies we found on blockbuster.com.

Hi Alice,

I liked Good Will Hunting.

Judi,

Heard good things about Raising Arizona but I have never seen it.

Titanic. Passion of the Christ. I didn't like both of those so much, I never went to see them. That eliminates the dilemma over whether to stay or leave part way through.

The English Patient.
Baby's Day out.
Most anything by John Hughes.

I am kind of partial to John Hughes. Maybe it is a sentimental thing.
