It is An Angry World But I am Thankful

I just walked into my home and sat down at the computer. I was out most of the day and spent a lot of time speaking with many different people about the state of the world. I am disappointed to say that right now I feel like I am living in an angry world.

There is so much anger and unrest lying beneath the surface. I listened as people ranted and raved about the response to the hurricane, the price of gas and to their problems with the government. I watched their facial expressions and I saw a lot of fear and uncertainty.

And now with the death of the Chief Justice I expect to see the tension grow thicker and the partisanship increase.

I cannot accept all this negativity. I cannot endure this much negative energy without growing despondent and melancholy. So I decided to take a moment to consider all of the positives, all of the blessings in my life.

A healthy family, incredible children, amazing love in a secret world, friends I would die for and friends that would die for me, a job that has potential and a home.

So in the end I have to say that things are very good and I am very thankful for that. I am going to do what I can to help make things better not just for my family but for those around me because I think that it is the right thing to do and I don't see how it could hurt.

My request to all of you is to do something for someone else. It doesn't have to be big, just a little thing to make someone smile. Those little things add up and maybe just maybe we can work together to make the world a happier place.

What a positive, life-affirming post. Yes, I will try to do more selfless acts of kindness. Great idea!! No more negativity!!

Positivity is good, but not when it turns into naivity. For example: claiming the war in Iraq is worthwile because the tribes are debating the 'constitutional process' while the country itself remains ablaze is not positivity, that is just dangerous self deception.

Positivity is a constructive emotion that needs to be footed in reality for it to serve purpose. When you are positive when there is no reason to(state of the world for example) than you are just a fool.

Pessimism can also be constructive, in that it steers away from self destruction and convinces people/society to mount new paths. Again take Iraq, when the publics discontent with the war remains deflected by the Bush government then the cowboy will never feel the heat of the electorate that is the primary incentive for him to alter or better yet abandon his occupation policies.

Z,

Attitude is everything. You can have a good attitude and still be well aware that things are not what they should be.

You can have a good attitude and work towards change or you can have a bad attitude and work towards change. The success of your venture may hinge upon your attitude.
