Assasinating the president is not a joke

This is not funny. When a columnist says something as asinine as:

John Wilkes Booth, Lee Harvey Oswald, John Hinckley Jr - where are you now that we need you?

This merits a formal reprimand.

I could not agree more. I remember reading that every threat against the President, no matter how casually uttered, is investigated by the FBI/CIA. There was a first-person piece in the New York Times Magazine last year, written by someone who had been critical of the President, and then learned that he was being investigated by the FBI and CIA.

And besides, it's just a silly question. JWB and LHO are clearly not available for the job. They're, um, like, dead.

I thought that this column was in very poor taste. The Guardian crossed a line with this one.

I am impressed that someone remembers those three names.
The Gaurdian not being an american company can say what it wants about american leaders. (American advertisers may have some sway)

Most people I have talked to in europe feel this way about Bush.

Do you mean the same Europe that launched both world wars and handed Poland over to the Nazis.

Or do you mean the Europe that launched the Crusades. the Inquisition, decimated the indigenous populations of hundreds of lands during their colonial efforts.

Or do you mean the Europe that watches as Africa burns and did nothing when Yugoslavia melted down.

Paragons of virtue and morality.
