Doctors Ready to Perform Face Transplant

I am not sure if we are ready to face this, no pun intended. There are so many interesting arguments in support of and against this surgery. But is incredible.

They discuss using a dead person as a donor. Can you imagine the potential for a relative coming across their dead son/father/uncle/brother's face on someone else's body.

It would probably look different. The facial structure, body, eye color and hair could all be different, but how wild.

The appearance of the face is formed by bone structure. Something like 'face/off' is impossible. A face transplant would be nothing more than tissue transplantation. The person would look the same before he/she got burned or mutilated, but now just with the skin of a deceased relative. The prefered choice for a relative is also logic because of the higher acceptance rating.

This is truly amazing. The Cleveland Clinic has been considering this for some time now. And I think it will be wonderful for those whose faces have been completely damaged in fires/accidents. Sure beats having no face.
