How Many Readers Have Been To a Drive-in?

Just wondering how many of you in cyberspace have been to a drive-in and if so, when is the last time you went?

Theater or fast-food?

I've been to drive-ins many times. They're almost all gone now. We still have one left in the area but I haven't been to it in about 5 years.

I have never been to one because that era was sort of over by the time I was of age. I have always wanted to go on a date to one. How fun and romantic it seems it would be!

Shmata Queen,

It must be because they all were burnt down because you are easily of age to have gone to one.

I used to love them.

Saw "Pirates of the Carribean" when it first came out. There are two drive-in theatres within 30 minutes of the house.

Oh my...I think Anth and I went sometime after we got married. And maybe we went one other time. But that was nearly 20 years ago!!!!!

One of my favorite memories growing up was the summer I stayed with my aunt Sandy and her family and they put us in PJ's and loaded us into the station wagon and off we went to the drive in. We kids (my cousins and my sister and I were all 2 years apart - 12, 10, 8 and 6) had the BEST time.

We still have quite a few here in rural western PA. I really need to take Evan.

I went to a drive-in a few times as a kid and once as an adult. I saw Unforgiven at a drive-in near Huntington Beach, California, in 1992.

I must have been about five or six, and I think it was some Herbie movie, maybe. I do remember seeing Walking Tall, and screaming and crying. My parents, bright ones. Let's take the kids to see Walking Tall!

I remember sitting on a blanket on the top of the car, watching movies.

But the best part was playing before the movie started, just as it was getting dark, in the little park underneath the screen.

Yep, I've seen a movie at the drive-in, but only when I was a kid. For some reason, my parents took me to one of the Carry On movies. I was probably supposed to be asleep in the back seat, but I remember being a bit shocked and titillated by some of the racy shenanigans.

Back in the early 90s, I moved into a house with a drive-in theatre right across the road. I never went to see a movie there, and it's gone now.

Wrong. I lived in the city and drive-ins tend to be in more rural areas. Duh.

Hi Ric,

You'll always remember this as the day you almost discussed Captain Jack Sparrow.

Z,

I used to love the drive-in. I don't think that I have been to one since somewhere around '89 and that was in Santa Barbara. I loved them.

JG,

Unforgiven was a great movie. Huntington Beach is about 50 miles or so from my house. I'll have to see if there is still a drive-in there. If not I'll just hang out at the beach.

Sorry Ezzie.

Dorothy,

I must have seen at least two of the Herbie movies that way. Those playgrounds were fun.

Q,

I remember sitting in the back seat of my parents station wagon and watching the various movies on the drive-in screens as we rode by.

So they were burned down.

only once. when I was a kid, my parents took me to the one drive-in left in the area before it closed down, just so I could have the experience, I don't even remember what we saw...
