Airplane Trouble? Kill a Goat

I don't think that I would be real comfortable flying a plane where animal sacrifice is a routine part of maintenance.
Nepal's state-run airline has confirmed that it sacrificed two goats to appease a Hindu god, following technical problems with one of its aircraft.

Nepal Airlines said the animals were slaughtered in front of the plane - a Boeing 757 - at Kathmandu airport.

The offering was made to Akash Bhairab, the Hindu god of sky protection, whose symbol is seen on the company's planes.

The airline said that after Sunday's ceremony the plane successfully completed a flight to Hong Kong.

As long as they actually perform the mechanical work, too, I don't really have a problem with their sacrificing the goats. Just don't forget to do the work.

You don't feel comfortable, how do you think the goat feels?

Michael,

That is the point. After you sacrifice the goat you might become so excited that you'd think you could skip the work.

SD,

Bahhhhhhhhh! ;)

No one here mentioned the fact (?) that the said goats were served during the flight.

So, let's count the blessings:

1. The flight was successful.
2. The goats were not just killed but
3. Served as the dinner.
4. And a free show of goat sacrifice.

All in all, everyone (but the goats) won.

Miriam,

That is why my house is made out of bricks. ;)

Snoopy,

Nothing like a good meal and a show to make your flight feel more luxurious.

I'd say what Miriam said but she said it so I'll just say that I'd say what she said - which I said.

'Cept that I'd'a mentioned Tfilas Haderech as its closest counterpart and, when you think about it, the problem that anyone might have with the goat thing is Exactly the same problem as with Tfilas HaDerechers (only with less internal organs making their debut in the External).

They just had this story on Wait Wait Don't Tell me - the NPR quiz show. I choose wrong... didn't think this could actually be real.
