Some of the game shows in Japan are so far out there. This video is of one called edition of Silent Library - a Japanese game show in which the contestants endure hilarious torture but are not allowed to utter a sound.
I don't quite understand how people decide to participate in some of these things, but...

As I watched it I wanted very much to understand the commentary in the background.
Even on some U.S. game shows, people will do the stupidest or most dangerious things for the chance at only 5K-25K... my dignity is worth much more than that.
And some of these shows, like Fear Factor? Forget it. I'll earn my money the old-fashioned and anonymous way, TYVM!
Although, I can think of a practical application for that slapping machine at a table where Kofi Annan is strapped to a chair...
