X-Men 3- My short review

I took advantage of the holiday weekend to go see X-Men: The Last Stand. If you don't want to know any more about the movie stop reading here.

Just in case some people decide that they still want to see it I'll be somewhat oblique in my description.

The movie was enjoyable but disappointing. The effects were great and there was plenty of action, but they overreached on this one. Too many plot lines were under developed and I didn't like how they veered away from the original comic.

I would have narrowed the focus a bit and done more work on polishing it.

Anyway, I still enjoyed it and am happy that I saw it on the big screen.

Narrower would have definitely been better! .. Ratner just seems to have thrown anything he could find into the mix, hoping something works without bothering to learn anything at all about the X-Men mythology

You should have seen The Sith on the big screen. Makes a huge difference.

I hate the summer for movies because it's all just boring action movies. Yawn. I love fall and winter...all the good movies -- the Oscar contenders are released then.

I saw it with my boys on Friday. Agree, too much action and not enough plot. I would rate the three X-men movies in decending order of quality.

As for "Oscar Winners" (last comment), that's more a negative than a positive to me. The last "best picture" winner that I really liked was "Silence of the Lambs"; most I don't even find watchable.

Brokeback Mountain was fabulous. And so was Capote, Pride & Prejudice and so many other contenders. They sure beat Xmen.

brokeback was boring...sorry stacey. I'm glad I watched it at home.

I have to agree with elie tho, not many movies nominated worth watching in the theater. My fav from this past year was Walk the Line and the year before was Sideways.

Sith was so great on the nig screen, I saw it twice.

Haven't seen X-3 yet, but I can't wait.

It came out here last Thursday night, just haven't had time. Hope this or next week.

RF,

Agreed. Ratner did the X-Men a disservice. I'd redo the whole thing.

Stacey,

You haven't the foggiest idea what you are talking about here. Not a clue. Listen romance girl, there is every bit of passion, drama, love and excitement in so many of these action movies.

I am a Summer boy- I live for the sun and fun year round. That is why I live here as opposed to the burning river.

Elie,

I thought that the second was really good and enjoyed the first.

Don't get me wrong, I liked the third, but there was so much unfulfilled potential.

J-Cop,

I loved Walk the Line.
