"Four years ago, we learned that The Thing is Jewish when he was shown praying in Hebrew over the body of a friend he had sought to protect. (“It’s just ... you don’t look Jewish,” a surprised character tells the enormous, destructive orange rock-man, who explains to another character that he never said anything about it because he didn’t want to embarrass other Jews, seeing as he was, after all, an enormous, destructive orange rock-man.)"Call me a geek but I found the story to be interesting. Please note that the selection I chose is but a small part of the overall story.

Jack, that link is fulla bunk. Superman is Jewish, as my buddies and I wrote during slow moments at Hebrew School several decades ago.
See also this.
Siegel and Shuster were obviously making him their fantasy alter ego.
In addition, "Kal-el" is a corruption of Kol-el, voice of God.
I don't buy any of that stuff from the later comics. Only original intent here.
I too have always thought Superman to be Jewish.
As an extra in second movie insisted, "Of COURSE he's Jewish!"
That is so unbelievably cool! My little boy loves "The Thing!" He's got the big orange fists and everthing. I can't wait to tell him. Thank you so much for posting that! Now, if we could just get him to kick the living s@#% out of the people who created American Idol? That is one funeral I'd love to attend.
Attila,
I can buy that.
Mirty,
Kimvah is similar to mikvah,it is not exactly a palindrome.
TRN,
Sure.
Amishav,
The Thing is pretty cool.
I wrote several articles about a DC alternate Earth where many superheros were Jewish (called 'Earth-Frum') on my livejournal. See here, here, and here.
I was a rabid Marvel fan as a kid and the FF was always my favorite book. I did find this pretty cool when I heard about it. But it's a pretty blatant retcon, as there was no hint at this for the first 40 or so years of the character's existence.
Wow - first the Green Power Ranger, now The Thing. My son will be absolutely beside himself with glee!
