I have been pondering this all morning. I can't remember learning a thing about him. Who was Moshe Rabbeinu's father and why don't we hear more about him.
Curious.

Amram.
Ex. 6:20 - "Amram married his father's sister Jochebed, who bore him Aaron and Moses. Amram lived 137 years."
Great question though.. Many implications... But they're right, it was Amram. Why don't we learn more about him?
Ok, so he married his aunt. Got it. But as Zoe said, why don't we learn more about him.
Something is going on here.
From Rashi we know the Midrash that Amram separated from Yocheved when Pharoh issued his decree demanding the killing of all sons. It was an example that many Jews followed. So Miriam reproached her father and told him that he was worse than Pharoh, for Pharoh only decreed against the sons; but Amram was preventing all children from being born.
Amram heeded his daughter's advice and remarried Yocheved.

Jack, don't you know how hard it was to ever get straight answers out of the Moses Administration, they were constantly stonewalling the reporters :-)
Talmud Bavli - Shabbat 55b:
4 people died because of the bite of the original snake (only - meaning they had no sin of their own):
1) Amram
2) Binyamin
3) Yishai (David's father)
4) Kilav (David's son)
All of your replies are greatly appreciated.
You realize that by Amram marrying his aunt, that made Moshe his own first cousin once removed?
A couple of changes and he could have been his own stepfather.
