Aging Sucks

It is not the most elegant way of saying it, but sometimes aging sucks. At times I have engaged in a rougher, live hard, live fast lifestyle and I suppose that the chickens are coming home to roost. The old dog don't hunt like he used to no mo.

I wake up and notice new aches and pains. There are bruises and scrapes on my body that do not fade away the way that they used to and sometimes I feel like I am dragging myself through the day.

Granted I am still living and moving pretty well. Yesterday I played 90 minutes of basketball and followed that up with chores around the yard. And then I made the mistake of going to bed at a quarter to one and getting up at 5:30.

But this morning I feel sluggish and I am missing a bit of the spring in my legs. What happened to the instant recovery I used to have. It irks me.

Out on the court I noticed that I am a step slower than I used to be. From a strength perspective I still have that, but I have to be a little more careful because my flexibility is not what it used to be.

In the meantime I am laughing because I just heard from a friend about an experience he had with a woman. He'd shoot me if he knew that I was posting this but it is too funny to me. He is a single man of 36 and is seeing a 23 year-old who lives like we used to.

It seems that Saturday night while engaged in bedroom activities he hurt his back and had to quit so that he could lie down. Hee hee. The next time he tries to tease me about being woken up by screaming children I am going to remind him that he does his in own screaming in the bedroom and it is not the kind that is tied to pleasure.

Anyway, I am considering taking up Yoga or Pilates. I don't know where I am going to find the time but I suspect that these activities will lend themselves to helping stave off the ravages of old age.

The good news is that I am still a long way off from 43, unlike the Shmata Queen. ;)

So is this the one with the "big gas"?

That is soooo not true, oh One of Math Inability. I turn 37 in 29 days. Sounds WAY BETTER than 43!

Ah, I will not tell you my age (which is a big give away right there) but I felt this post this morning in more ways than you know and as amusing as it is to think of 36 year old having to take a recovery break from his 23 year old wild girl, feeling achy in the joints the morning after a night of wild sex is no joke. Sorry, you hit the nail on the head today and I'm walking funny.

Shmata Queen, you know that you are not being truthful. You were not born in'68.

There are worse reasons to be walking funny.

Aging sucks just seems so appropriate to me.

Aging sucks but it beats the alternative

Agreed, it does beat the alternative.

Reminds me of an old W.C. Field quote "Life is a funny business, you're lucky if you can get out of it alive."

I always liked W.C. Fields.

I didn't think it had been as many months away from here as it has clearly been. I was certain I had updated this place in December and ...
