Right on. I'm with you ...
There's a local classical music station that has trivia contests in which people call in and answer the question. Usually the prizes are rather nice: getaways for two to rural B & B's; theater tickets; vouchers to top restaurants; symphony tickets, etc.
This morning the prize was two reserved copies of the new Harry Potter book. The station excitedly kept announcing the contest prize all day yesterday. For Harry Potter fans, perhaps this prize is deemed "rather nice"...
Me too. Can't wait.
Are you going to any HP parties on Friday night? Dressing up per chance or the little ones? I am going to have to make Ev into Harry sometime before 6pm on Friday when wristbands are given out. Party starts at 10...that should be loads of fun with a cranky boy tired from camp!
Nope, no parties for us. My little boy is a little too young and I like to spend Shabbos at home.
But it does sound like a lot of fun.
I didn't get into it until recently with my kids (they weren't old enough yet). But I must say, it is much more fun to read out loud to them than the standard fare. Lots of cool character voices to act out, and it really holds their attention which makes the job easier.
The only problem is the ever increasing maturity level of the books. It makes it a little tricky for kids to track through the whole series in sequence.
Hi Gavriel,
I am looking forward to being able to read it with my children, but there is still a long way to go before that happens.
