New York

I usually hit Manhattan between 2-3 times a year for business trips. I stay at the Hyatt at Grand Central. I like it there and frankly I know the neighborhood pretty well now.

I never feel so alone and yet so alive. I know so many people in the city. I have family and friends all over and I never run into them unless by design.

It is amazing to me that I can feel this way. So far. So close. So much a part of things. So alone.

So what.

So what? So that's the wonder and beauty of NYC. Solitary if you want it. Social if you want it. One day, one--the next, the other. Or parts of each day split between quality time with friends and a meditative solitude. I love it too...it's a writer's best friend.

I do like the city, but I have to admit that part of the pleasure is going there on someone else's dime. An expense account makes life very pleasant.
