If not my favorite show, it is in the top 3.
Six Feet Under is also really compelling, and in addition to Nip/Tuck, try FX's Rescue Me, which is gritty, funny, tragic, real...etc...
Used to watch Six Feet Under until they did a show in which a child died. It was too close to home for me and I had to stop.
Would have started again, but I had too many other shows:
Angel, Buffy, Third Watch, Survivor, The Amazing Race and every now and then "The Bachelor."
