Fighting Terrorists

David at Rishon Rishon posted links to a couple of well known stories about terrorist incidents that were stopped by bold, heroic measures.

One is a short summary of the raid on Entebbe and the second is the story of El Al flight 219, whose pilot battled hijackers and successfully thwarted a hijacking.

I am posting these for a variety of reasons. One of which is that sadly terrorism is not a new phenomena to most of the world and it should be understood that there are examples of terrorist activities that were thwarted in action, as well as those that are stopped prior to execution.

Obviously the best scenario is the one in which terrorism is eradicated and there is no need for it any more. But assuming that is a real and plausible situation, it is still something that is a long way off.

The next best scenario involves solid intelligence and the application of this intelligence to preventing terrorist incidents from taking place.

Anyway, I am just rambling aimlessly so I'll end this here.
