In an earlier post I referred to some of the struggles I engage in during Rosh Hashanah.
I have never believed that I am alone in this or that this was something special to me or to Jews for that matter. Earlier today I stumbled upon a post that alluded to this as well. I found it to be enjoyable and wanted to comment briefly on one aspect of this.
I have many friends in the rabbinate of all denominations, Orthodox, Conservative and Reform. And having known many for a number of years I can say that I have seen most of them question their faith at one time or another. And for me that is comforting.
I don't want a rabbi who never questions himself, his beliefs and G-d. If you don't ask questions and rely solely upon faith you are not for me. I believe it to be very important to push ourselves and ask why we believe what we do. It is a good educational experience.
