At the moment the warmth of the shack is being shattered by the piercing cries of a baby with colic. My son didn't have it, but my daughter sure has something like it. It is an early "introduction" to her lungs and I am pleased to say that they work.
They work so well that the neighbors three doors down lost their entire set of Waterford crystal, the woman across the street was knocked unconscious and I am deaf on the left side. The good news is that we are using her amazing lung power for good. We have just signed a contract with the Feds to license her voice as a tool to stun criminals and terrorists. Of course if they are deaf it won't work with a damn, but I am too tired to care.
A leisurely walk around the block has put her to sleep, and I am hopeful that I can get about 5 consecutive hours. That would be enough to get me through the day without too much yawning. And if it doesn't well, I can cross my fingers and hope that I don't drool too much on my keyboard. It is embarassing enough to fall asleep at work, can you imagine shortcircuing the keyboard with saliva. Oy.

Have you tried the car? My youngest daughter falls asleep every single time we put her in the car. By the time we get to the end of our street, she is out like a light. Oldest daughter was not this way...the baby takes after her mommy. :) Hope the colic passes soon.
Thanks for the tips. The car may end up being the late night option. Last night a short walk around the neighborhood did it.
She is a good girl, just a little mindful now.
Ah yes I can remember those days of what seemed like endless crying. My younger son had colic and one of the things that helped was a wind up swing that we had.
Running water and or the vacuum seemed to calm him down as well.. don't know why , but it did.
I have heard that liquid peppermint can soothe a colicky baby.
It might be worth calling your local health food store and checking to see if they have any.
Hang in there, they usually outgrow it after 3 months.
