Pirates Vow to Kill Sailors

The story about the American Sailor who was rescued from the Somalian pirates had a happy ending for the captain but generated a strong response from a couple of pirates.

"MANAMA, Bahrain (CNN) -- U.S. Navy snipers fatally shot three pirates holding an American cargo-ship captain hostage after seeing that one of the pirates "had an AK-47 leveled at the captain's back," a military official said Sunday.

The captain, who'd been held in a lifeboat in the Indian Ocean since Wednesday, was rescued uninjured, Navy Vice Adm. Bill Gortney told reporters.

Capt. Richard Phillips' ship, the Maersk Alabama, was stormed by pirates 350 miles off Somalia on Wednesday morning. He was "resting comfortably" on the USS Boxer after his rescue Sunday night, according to the Navy."
The deaths of these pirates followed the deaths of other pirates who were killed in a rescue operation mounted by the French. These actions angered two pirates who have vowed to kill American/French sailors. (Am I the only one rolling my eyes about two pirates.)
The military actions angered Ali Nur, a pirate who is based in Gara'ad, a coastal village in the semi-autonomous region of Puntland, in northern Somalia.

"From now on, after the killings by the U.S. and France, we will add some harsher steps in our dealings with hostages, particularly American and French hostages," Nur told a journalist.
Big talk from a pissant who is safely ensconced in a little hole. He and his fellows are working hard towards convincing the world to do something about piracy off the coast of Somalia. I don't necessarily expect that we'll see warships routinely providing an escort, but we will see ships that are better equipped for defense.

The end result will be more dead pirates and rightly so.

[Nur issued a warning to the United States.

"The killing of our boys was aggression, and the U.S. will see what they get from their operation," he said.]

WOW I guess I need a definition of aggression then. How is it that stealthily boarding passenger and other ships with guns and taking them for ransom is NOT aggression?

Nancy..it is...they are just ignorant wastes of our Earth's natural resources. That region is lucky that American has gone "soft" and that is all we did!

From the beginning this has been the only way to deal with the pirates.

Those who pay the ransoms, so that the pirates could obtain better weapons and equipment cause a bad situation to escalate.

Somalia may have legitimate claims concerning fishing rights and sovereignty over the sea, but that is for governments to work out, not individuals to attack aid ships over.

Good, now it will hasten their downfall. You step on a cockroach in your house. This is no different.

Nur's warning "The Killing of our boys was agression, and the U.S. will see what they get from there operation" Tell Nur, the Act of Attacking and boarding a vessel with intent to cause harm by use of Extortion to achive financial gain is Agression. I would like to send a message to Nur... How about use your rag tag Fleet to help ferry supplies for humanitarian aid and help out instead of the current Pirate for geed tactic you are using. Other wise. There will be another bullet with your name on it and eveyone of your Boys who attempts to board another Vessel unlawfully. Get it through your thick skulls or a bullet will have to do. Have a nice day.

Bring it Nar.. If you think Agression is defending innocent people from Cancer like you... We have the cure. If you fail to realize that Stealing from others is not a legitimate way of life perhaps a .50 cal will. I would advise you to stop and cease all Pirate like activities and use your Rag tag fleet for Humanitarian Aid and help the furtherment of your people, otherwise you will just be another dead statistic. Have a nice day folks. =)
