Whole Lotta Something Going On

I once wondered if I had to communicate solely by song lyrics, what would I do and how would I do it. So, I decided to grab the iTunes shuffle and grab lyrics from the first 10 songs. Let's see what we come up with.

"Play the game, you know you can't quit until it's won
Soldier on, only you can do what must be done
You know in some way you're a lot like me
You're just a prisoner and you're tryin' to break free"
St. Elmos Fire

"Stand by your man
Give him two arms to cling to
And someone warm to come to
When nights are cold and lonely"
Stand By Your Man

"I shoulda learned to play the guitar
I shoulda learned to play them drums
Look at that mama, she got it stickin' in the camera
Man we could have some fun
And he's up there, what's that? Hawaiian noises?
Bangin' on the bongoes like a chimpanzee
That ain't workin' that's the way you do it
Get your money for nothin' get your chicks for free"
Money For Nothing

"I thought about you for a long time
can't seem to get you off my mind
I cant stand why were living like this way
I found your picture today
I swear I'll change my ways
I just called to say I want you to come back home
I found your picture today
I swear I'll change my ways
I just called to say I want you to come back home
I just called to say I love you
come back home "
Picture

"I was drowned, I was washed up and left for dead.
I fell down to my feet and I saw they bled.
I frowned at the crumbs of a crust of bread.
Yeah, yeah, yeah
I was crowned with a spike right thru my head.
But it's all right now, in fact, it's a gas!
But it's all right, I'm Jumpin' Jack Flash,
It's a gas! Gas! Gas"!
Jumpin Jack Flash

Let me be your freedom,
let daylight dry your tears.
I'm here with you, beside you,
to guard you and to guide you..."
All I ask of You

"I am the virus. Are you the cure?
I am morally, I'm morally impure
I am a disease and I am unclean
I am not part of God's well oiled machine
Christian nation, assimilate me
Take me in your arms and set me free
I am part of a degenerate elite
Dragging our society into the street
Into the abyss and to the sewer don't you see"
The man just told me, he told me on TV"
Insanity

"It's been a hard day's night, and I'd been working like a dog
It's been a hard day's night, I should be sleeping like a log
But when I get home to you I find the things that you do
Will make me feel alright"
Hard Day's Night

"I have lived behind walls
That have made me alone
Striven for peace
Which I have never known
And I can still hear his laughter
And I can still hear his song
The man's too big
The man's too strong"
The Man's Too Strong

"If you see a faded sign by the side of the road that says
15 miles to the...Love Shack! Love Shack yeah
I'm headin' down the Atlanta highway, lookin' for the love getaway
Heading for the love getaway, love getaway,
I got me a car, it's as big as a whale and we're headin' on down
To the Love Shack
I got me a Chrysler, it seats about 20
So hurry up and bring your jukebox money"
Loveshack

Hmm, I am not sure what to make of this. It is kind of a fun exercise. At this point I have about 750 songs loaded into iTunes, so there is a wealth to choose from. However since I made this a random exercise, grab the first 10 and pull the lyrics from there it is a little more challenging.

Am I the only one who thinks that iPods should be able to scroll lyrics on your screen while the song plays?

That would be very cool.

Gotta love a man who has "St. Elmo's Fire" on his iPod.
