What Is Your Favorite Topic To Blog About?

Nu, what is your favorite topic to blog about?

I've got a few favorites. I like to write about New Jersey. I grew up there and I have a sort of love/hate relationship to the state. Second, I love writing about my current neighborhood in Boston, Jamaica Plain. It is very old, founded in the 1600s, there is a lot of progressive politics, and there is always something to say about the place. Finally, I am into weird phenomena (UFOs, ghosts, spontaneous combustion). Now, the catch is, I write a blog for BABY BOOMERS. How does all this stuff fit in? I have no idea. Maybe it doesn't.

Isn't everyone's favorite blog topic - THEMSELVES?

I like to blog about travel. OK, let's be honest: I like to travel, and I try to blog about it. Since I'm in-between international tours right now, I'm doing a series on the Israel National Tour for the middle-aged and enfeebled.

Books and writing, but I mostly blog about something from the news.

Sometimes it is excruciatingly painful for me to blog about myself. It's not uncommon for me to weep after writing a post. Or even after reading a post like your previous one. So am I my favorite topic to blog about? Not at all. But I do it because I think it may help, not only me but others.

I'm going to go with me on this one.

Umm... I'm making this harder than it has to be, I'm sure. My favorite topic, quite honestly, would be to blog all about my characters and what they're up to and how I feel about them and how one fictional rabbi in particular annoys the hell out of me.

I can argue that they're not me but I did still create them, so am I really blogging about myself or not?

I dunno...

Yeh, the self obsessed navel gazing thing is really popular. And why shouldn't it be, if we can't write about our own lives with authenticity what can we write about?

Ideas that are new to me, innovative and interesting, and are either literary or biblical in nature.

Sadly, people seem to prefer it when I talk about myself.

*sigh*

I've been writing a local urban neighborhood blog for a month or two. I used to write about myself, but it got old. Or I got old. Whatever.

Now I talk about cool things- like violent crime, cookies on sale at the grocery store and how Oprah makes me ill.

Occasionally, I long to write about myself. Last week, I found myself in an elevator with two med school instructors and a cart piled high with open boxes of (real) skulls. That would've made a pretty good entry.

I wrote about poverty, instead.

Well said.

Blog first for yourself and then for your readers. Just my two cents.

Another worthwhile pursuit.
