The question of the moment is do you feel obligated to produce new content on a regular basis? Some of my blogging pals have said that although they enjoy blogging it has come to a feel like work.
The reason for this is that they now feel that they have an obligation to respond to all of the comments and a responsibility to continue to produce new content for their readers.
What do you think?

I feel somewhat obligated to post if it's been a few days without. I don't respond to every comment, but I try to get back to all emails.
I feel bad when I don't post for a few days (such as now!), but it's mostly because posting gives me an genuine emotional lift, not that I feel obligated to anyone else.
I enjoy posting. And I like getting feedback. And I do respond to all commenters and e-mailers. I think it's the polite thing to do and I'm nothing, if not polite! :)
A little bit - much like JA, if it's been a few days. Because I now have ads, including one that's not from BlogAds, I feel that I owe them at least some regularity in terms of posting.
I try to respond to comments and e-mails, but (especially over weekends) I get backed up fairly quickly and can't do it.
I'd like to think that my slim readership forgives me right now. :P
yes!
but i enjoy coming up with new posts and photos so until i get bored of that, i'm happy to keep up my irregular schedule of posting :)
JA,
That is more or less how I handle things.
Elster,
I blog for myself, but I'd be lying if I said that I didn't feel some sort of obligation to post.
Miriam,
Yep.
Elie,
Blogging is therapeutic, at least I think so.
Val,
You are polite, unlike your brother ;)
Ezzie,
See, you are a businessman now.
Chana,
Absolutely.
Sarah,
It should be enjoyable, otherwise what is the point.
I try to blog when something is of interest to me. Fortunately, the newspapers are full of interesting stories, but then there is the matter of time and energy.
I don't feel obligated to post even though I post every day, but sometimes I wonder why I am blogging. It seems to me that there are a lot of other people blogging on the same topics, and probably quite a few of them are doing a better job of discussing those topics. So what is the point of me adding my two cents?
M,
Time and energy are sometimes in short supply.
Fern,
It is a subjective call as to whether others are doing a better job than you.
As long as I continue to enjoy blogging there will continue to be some output here.
That is really how I make my decision. I have enough work without adding to it. When this stops being fun I'll say goodbye.
Good question Jack. Answering comments is the polite thing to do - especially if you want more! Posting should be enjoyable and not work - people who feel "forced" into posting should take a small break - and see that the sky didn't fall down!
Blogging might be a problem if I were striving for perfection. The way I work now, I just put down anything my little heart desires and leave it out there. I do like to use correct grammar and spelling, though.
If I were writing for publication--I mean, as in a real book--I would take more pains.
WBM,
Absolutely.
Miriam,
Makes sense to me.
