The J-Blogosphere is Not Dying

Contrary to the opinions of some the J-Blogosphere is not dying or even in a rut. It is undergoing a dynamic and fluid evolution in which some "older" blogs are dropping out of the game. But have no fear because just as we see in life the population is not shrinking.

These old blogs are being replaced by new blogs. Some of them are pretty good and some of them are just awful.

The hardest thing for me is not running out of content, I can always find material to blog about. No, the bigger challenge is finding time to read and respond.

Speaking of which, I have got to run for a bit. See you later.

I agree that it's evolving, not dying. I often ask myself that when I get married, will there come a time where blogging will no longer be appropriate, as I will have a family and other more important things to pay attention to... -Zoe

Ger - "Crap Blogs" - like they say, one person's crap is another person treasure.

I guess it comes down to how you define a blog. Is a person who is blogging doing it for just themselves or for others to be entertained? Who cares if someone doesn't have anything "interesting" to say. It's what's on their mind and I think it's great that people can have a place where they feel comfortable to write whatever they want and can unload a lot of the junk that is rattling around in one's head and get feedback.

There are so many people who feel alone, despite how many friends they have or support they get from their family. I think blogging helps them. Maybe that is why it also so addictive.

There is someone and something for everyone. Just look at Ebay. You can ALWAYS find someone who thinks the same way or has the same hobbies as you do, even if the "rest of us" thinks it's mundane, boring and just a piece of crap.

It's NOT Dying...

As the first JBlogosphere Anthropologist, I can say the past 3 months were similar to the 70's.

Feb 2005 - Sept 2005. The 60's
Oct 2005 - Feb 2006 The 70's
Mar 2006 - The 80's.

And the 80's rocked...just wait for whats going to happen soon.

Must be my impeding real life meeting with Jack in LA...which I predict within the month :-)

are you daring enough to say which blogs are "pretty good" and which ones are "down right awful?"

Wow, people sure are opinionated on this issue Jack. I think that more blogs should take seasonal hiatus's :-) Then they wouldn't blogfade.

I always thought when Chevy named a mini-van Venture people would stop using that world .. hmm. guess not.

Mirty. Your blog is a great example of a blog evolving, going from MGM to MP.

Jack I know this is completely off topic, but I just got this book that I really think youd like.

GT,

At times we are a dramatic folk. Think about it, part the Red Sea, stop the sun in the sky, turn the nile into blood. With that kind of history it is easy to call this death and not a hiccup.

I do agree with most of what you said.

JB,

Melting differences and building bonds. Kumbaya. ;)

ZS,

I am married and a father and I can't imagine not blogging. It is a part of me. The trick is maintaining balance.

Elster,

There are more, but whether they have anything to add is a story unto itself.

GT,

It is a fast moving world.

Sweettooth,

Makes sense to me.

GT,

I appreciate that, but I think half of my stuff is horrible.

Jameel,

We are going to meet. Cool, drinks are on you. ;)

SK,

I am not afraid to say which blogs suck and which do not. But I am not sure that anything is served by my doing so.

Chaim,

I'll check it out.

Not Quite Abandoned

I didn't think it had been as many months away from here as it has clearly been. I was certain I had updated this place in December and ...
