Fair point.
This has already been taken to the next level, what happens if "The Nine" gets renewed?

I think he is partially right. The problem is that the reality is that studios can't afford to pump money into production of something on Lost's scale and hope to make back their money with just two seasons. They need long term prospects to justify the big production dollars.

Lacking this, however, I think they just need to focus on telling a coherent story. So many times during the second and third seasons I find my self feeling like I have been there and done that already. We've learned almost nothing this third season, nothing of real importance anyway. It makes me think that either they don't know yet what it all means, or what they are planning is really kind of lame.
