What difference does his religion make?

This morning when I checked my stats I went as usual to the keyword analysis because I think that it is interesting to see how people get to my blog.

There were three that caught my eye:

deep throat jew
mark felt jew
jew w.mark felt

Now I really am not one of those people who jump at everything that I think could be antisemitic, but this made the hair on the back of my neck standup.

What difference does it make what his religion is. Does it have any import upon this at all. Maybe I am just tired, but I don't see the connection or the relevancy of this question.

Maybe I am just overreacting, but.....

My litmus test for bigotry is how many syllables a person can squeeze into the word Jew. The more syllables, the bigger the anti-Semite. I haven't been wrong once.

It is disappointing. Why shouldn't I expect better behavior.

Check out The Rude Pundit today (www.rudepundit.blogspot.com), Jack. May not be safe for work, depending on your company's policy. If any of your readers are a conservative Republicans, be forewarned: the Rude Pundit's site may cause you to have a heart attack. But anyway, he talks in his rude way about Nixon's blatant anti-semitism, and even quotes a bit from one of the tapes. There could be some news stories out there that are getting at this same thing, though not as rudely as The Rude One.

Hi Vince,

Interesting. I had heard that about Nixon any number of times. It still doesn't change the fact that I am irritated by the desire to suss out Felt's faith.

FWIW, in general you don't find Jews naming their children after a living person, ie Mark Felt Jr.

I have googled the names of many famous people with the word "Jew" or "religion" next to their name just because I am curious about their religion. Big deal.

I'm not sure one could assume to understand this person's motives. Clearly there are weird people who have weird ideas about Jews- don't get me wrong. I was just wondering what my list of google searches would look like and how easily misunderstood they could be. Last week I got into a yelling match with a good friend because she ungenerously interpreted a line in an email I sent her. The written word is so clumsy. Of course I probably make the same mistake with others.

And besides, if the implication is that this man had some 'Jewish' motive, it assumes sooooo much. Jewish people aren't of one mind on really anything, if you ask me. (Nor are Christians, women, liberals, etc.) Especially given the fact that one can identify as Jewish and be totally secular. 'Jewish' just means so many different things, no?

Hi Alice,

It is entirely possible that this is nothing other than a misunderstanding, but I still want to make the point that if it was done for the other reason it is wrong.

I agree.

I'm not sure they are all what you think. The first one could easily be people trolling for Jewish porn. Second is probably someone investigating a sexual harrassment suit. And the third is trying to remember the name of a Jewish dressmaker who works patterns with felt. It could happen.

Jewish porn- well if you are searching for porn it is known to be of the highest quality. Mashgiach shel Goof ;)

Any time some actor or celebrity has an even remotely Jewish sounding name, I'll google them to see if they're Jewish. I think I like to do this because it makes me think that maybe some of that talent is in me by association or relation.

Also because once Harvey the Butcher told me Mr. Spock was Jewish.

Harvey the butcher. I wonder if he is related to Sam. ;)

Harvey the Butcher was the ultimate authority on whozajew. You mention a name, he'd shoot back with "ees a JEW." or "eh! a shaigetz!"

That clears that up. Is old Harvey still around?

Beats me.

Well that blows. What if I wanted to go visit him.
